Lynchburg bakery gives free meals to teachers to show support

Due to the uncertainty and struggles that COVID-19 has caused for educators, a local Lynchburg bakery is giving back in hopes of brining joy to those who give so much to the youth’s community. Chestnut Hill Bakery is giving out free lunches to show their thanks and appreciation to teachers in the local area. The bakery hopes that by doing this, they can bring some joy to the teachers who work so hard to serve the community.

Lynchburg police officer who saved woman’s life thanked with hugs, gifts from her family

During a late night call, Officer Austin Rowland was able to save life as he stopped a woman from choking. By thinking quickly and preforming the Heimlich maneuver, he was able to stop the woman from choking, which she was incredibly thankful for. To show her thanks, her and her daughters surprised the officer at the Old Forest Walmart with a card, balloons, and three big hugs.

‘Change for Change’: Lynchburg women refurbish parking meters to collect coins for nonprofits

A local Lynchburg woman has fixed up some old parking meters to now raise money for local nonprofits. Peggy Nolley, the woman behind the idea, said she was inspired by a similar concept being executed in Canada. Local organizations are working with Nolley and co-founder Libby Fitzgerald to match the donations in order to make a greater impact in the community.
